Waste Water Treatment Plant Monitoring Data

Essential Water holds Environmental Protection Licences for its Wills Street and South Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTPs), Broken Hill.
 
Changes to the Protection of the Environment Operations Act, 2011 require Environmental Protection Licence holders who monitor an activity as part of a licence condition to publish their monitoring data, commencing 1 July, 2012.

Under the provisions of the Act, Essential Water must within 14 days of obtaining monitoring data, make these results publicly available. Essential Water shall publish monitoring results through their website.
 
Monitoring data shall be provided for all licence concentration limits. Essential Water is required to sample its South WWTP facility quarterly and Wills Street WWTP monthly. Samples collected from both facilities are transported and analysed by the Australian Water Quality Centre (AWQC) in Adelaide. AWQC is an independent NATA accredited testing facility.
